The Life of a Portrait Photographer

It’s the second week of December and we’re pushing towards the end of what has been a VERY busy year for our portrait studio. In April-June, we worked with a New York based client to create business portraits for 2000 3000 medical professionals. We spent 10 weeks in and out of 48 different offices throughout Manhattan, Staten Island, Long Island and Brooklyn. Honestly, it was a lot of fun.

The work didn’t let up as we did MAJOR assignments for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Ernst & Young, Deloitte, Philips, Zurich, Wells Fargo, Comcast, Bank of America, and Baker Donelson (to name a few).

We completed portrait assignments in Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Denver, Dallas, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, Philadelphia, San Antonio, San Diego, and Washington DC.

This week we’ll spend 2 days creating environmental portraits for a large trade association in Washington DC, work with a client in our Baltimore studio, create some collateral marketing imagery for one of our law firm clients that is moving into a new office, and create 14 new portraits and a 6 minute video for one of our long-time Boston based clients.

Friday we’ll unpack, recharge batteries, clean gear and repack to fire back up next week when were back in Baltimore to work with an award winning real-estate client on Monday as well as working with our group of medical professionals in NYC. It’s going to be a long, but productive day.

Tuesday (week of 12/15) we start the final week of shooting for one of our new law-firm clients, which will lead us right up to December 24th. We’ll take a few days off for the Christmas Holiday but jump right back in on 12/29 with our medical professionals.

This is the way our entire 2014 has gone. We’re not complaining…in fact, we’re looking forward to an even busier 2015!

New Website? You Need Headshots!

We’re 11 hours into our business day sitting at Chicago’s O’Hara Airport when I find out  that my flight back to Washington DC was delayed…so what better to do than edit the images from our shoot earlier today.

Our client  today was a Chicago based real estate development firm. A few weeks ago we worked with their Washington DC office and this week we flew to Chicago to photograph 25 of their midwest based executives. I’ll admit that the highlight was talking business the Chairman and CEO…a man with 30+ years experience and that has developed over $2 BILLION of urban mixed-use projects. Whenever I have the opportunity I try to get a few minutes of his/her ear to discuss business. I definitely walked away with 2-3 tidbits of information that will help me grow as a leader and business owner.

The image on the right has a ghost (i.e. my First Assistant) in the background of what I think is a fantastic image. Fortunately we had 10-12 other great frames that the client loved as well.

Did you know that it only takes 15 minutes to update your corporate headshot with a new outstanding business portrait?
